SEBI barred Karvy Stock Broking and its MD Comandur Parthasarathy from the securities market for seven years over client funds misuse. In a rare instance, it also barred two of Karvy's independent directors from holding key position in public companies for two years. It is alleged that Karvy pledged the securities of clients to raise funds, which he then transferred to two related businesses.
